A renowned destination for the performing arts, the Houston Theater District offers a wide range of world-class entertainment options in Houston. With an impressive variety of stages in numerous locations, this area rivals some of the most popular theater districts in the country. Make plans to attend a thrilling concert or rousing performance and reserve your stay at Crowne Plaza Houston-Downtown, the premier option among downtown Houston hotels.

Hobby Center for the Performing Arts
Opened in May 2002, this striking, $102 million facility houses two impeccably-designed performance halls. Boasting striking architecture and the finest acoustics for concerts and events of all types, the Hobby Center features a soaring 3-story grand lobby and even a second-floor terrace stretching a block in length.

Sarofim Hall, the larger of the two, seats 2,650 and evokes the feel of an opulent European or Broadway theatre. One of its distinctive features is the stunning ceiling blanketed by twinkling fiber optic stars.

This hall is a fitting home to Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS), a musical theatre production company founded in 1968. Although performances were originally always held in an outdoor theatre, this company moved to the Hobby Center in 2002. Broadway Across America also calls the Center home, bringing the excitement of Broadway shows to the Space City.

Zilkha Hall offers a seating capacity of 500 in a contemporary, acoustically-sound setting and is home to Uniquely Houston®, a program which promotes up-and-coming nonprofit performing arts organizations.

Opened in 1966, this incredible hall has wowed millions of patrons with its beautiful architecture, both inside and out. Two distinctive features include a “Gemini II” sculpture in the lobby paying homage to the city’s space exploration ties and in the hall, the 800 hexagons overhead which can be raised and lowered for optimal acoustics to accommodate various audience sizes and concert types.
